Youth Mission Trip 2023

June 19 to June 23, 2023

Youth and adults travelled to Beverly, KY to Red Bird Mission. The peoples of the Spirit Lake Nation are of the Dakota Tribe and have been in this area since 1867. The reservation is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Dakotas just 8 miles south of Devils Lake, North Dakota. The reservation consists of four districts on one half million acres spread across rolling prairie and wooded hills.

The Spirit Lake Ministry Center is located on 80 acres in the Wood Lake District just 3 miles from Tokio, North Dakota. The Ministry Center has 4 dormitories, an up-to-date shower/toilet facility, a work shop, a kitchen/dining facility, food pantry, warehouse, and a Christian Life Center.

The Spirit Lake Ministry Center hosts volunteer teams from all over the country. PUMC youth partnered with them in the summer of 2018. We were thrilled to go back to continue to support this ministry!

Youth Mission Trips offer so many benefits! They encourage independence and decision making. They teach you how to get along with others. You will learn life skills such as how to use power tools and make basic home repairs. You will grow in your faith and learn about yourself. Plus, you get to travel out of state, have a lot of fun, and make new friends!

2022 Youth Mission Trip

July 17 to July 23, 2022

We travelled to JOSHUA in Steubenville, OH to help the residents with rehab work on the homes of those who cannot afford to pay for it themselves. We also served at the community kitchen, food pantry, and community garden. Thank you to all those who supported our trip with their donations, gifts, and prayers!

2019 Red Bird Mission

June 23 to June 29, 2019

This was an opportunity for volunteers in mission and service-minded groups to provide home repair for low-income community residents and maintenance for Mission buildings and grounds. An example of work projects are roof replacement, small room additions, painting, building porches or ramps, and grounds keeping. Other light duty work was available such as cutting soup upc’s, office work, craft and community store helpers, and recycling.
